"What if the healing you've been searching for isn't another treatment, but just... time and space to breathe?"

I'm Alex, I've been managing Lyme, Bartonella, brain injury, and autism for 25+ years. Like many of you, I've spent years going to countless doctors, doing countless tests and treatments, trying to find something that actually works for the daily "everything hurting all the time, on fire, aching, burning,” plus the horrible fatigue, dizziness, vision problems, and more. About three years ago, I created something that actually works for me and my sensitivities, also very effective for super sensitive dogs too- a 40-acre sanctuary in remote California where (currently) five "unadoptable" large dogs from the Shelter's Behavioral Euthanasia List and I practice daily decompression together, with my canine family member, the small but mighty Mister Amore, working everyday to get closer to homeostasis.

Despite my daily symptoms, I have to function at a certain level to at least do minimum basic care for the dogs, rabbits, garden, and myself, even on days when just existing is very painful, difficult, and a lot. Through those ongoing experiences, I've found a lot of repeatable low cost and no cost things that work for me, make it so we’re all doing relatively well considering our situation, and I want to share my successes with others, while helping to cover costs for caring for the dogs and operating the sanctuary.

Here's what I'm offering:

  • True darkness for deep sleep (no light pollution)
  • Tech detox that doesn't feel punitive (Available Wi-Fi and power!)
  • Organic fruits and veggies from our gardens and/or from the store. (Also minimally processed!)
  • Care for the dogs and/or the rabbits (or just rest while they care for you!)
  • Someone who gets it when you need to pace differently

Suggested minimum donation of $100/day to help cover costs of caring for the dogs and operating the sanctuary includes:

  • Organic, minimally processed food (medicine). Food can be medicine! (Meals are simple and nourishing - think fresh garden salads, organic fruits, and basic wholesome foods. If you have specific dietary needs, you're welcome to bring your own, lol you dont need to share, sharing is optional, but if it smells/looks good, I might ask!)
  • Flush toilet + power outlets + Wi-Fi (but no shower - we're camping, "roughing it in luxury")
  • As much or as little activity as your body allows.
  • Direct support for dogs who also struggle in "normal" environments
  • A spot to park your car/camper/RV and/or pitch a tent (tent, sleeping bag, and camping equipment is NOT included! Bring your own tent/camping gear or sleep comfortably in your vehicle - whatever works best for your needs and comfort level.)
  • A pond to go canoeing, kayaking, and/or fishing for bluegill and largemouth bass
  • Opportunities for hiking and walking throughout the day, around the pond, the olive orchard, walking around in general. A lot of opportunities for walking.

Using Low Stress Handing and Preventative Wellness principles as a framework, and usually with very little, often no support, I've kept us all alive and doing relatively well for 2+ years. Often, out of total necessity, I’ve found repeatable low cost and no cost things that work for for me and/or the dogs. This whole survival situation of +2 years, mostly completely alone with all the dogs, has helped strongly reinforce that sometimes the medicine isn't another (expensive) protocol - it's just good sleep, real food, avoiding as many unhealthy things as possible, time, and space.

Limited spots available as weather allows. Only 2-3 spots available per day - small groups ensure the low-stress environment we all need

Every dollar directly supports covering the costs of caring for our special canine residents and operating the Dog Decompression Center.

Message me if the Dog Decompression Center calls to you – we'd love to share our daily experiences with you, learn, grow, and heal, together. We're all in this fight together, doing our best, trying to find things that works for our unique case.

Sometimes what we need isn't another expensive treatment - it's just space to remember what peace feels like. 💚

BEHAVIOR IN CONTEXT

Dogs do so much for us humans...

Life is short, health is temporary, time is precious...

The present moment is the youngest that anyone will ever be...

Dogs are sentient beings full of emotions and unique personalities.

The relationship with dog(s) has the potential to be sacred - Let's get to know the dog in front of you, for who they are in the present moment, and do our best to meet their individual needs - the study of one!
